Ray arbeitete als Drucker für einige Firmen in der Umgebung von St. Paul, zuletzt in Maple Island, Inc. (Molkerei). Er arbeitete mehrere Jahre als Drucker für die Minnesota Gesundheits-Organisation. Er starb an Leberkrebs.

Nachruf: « STIEGER, Raymond J. of Stillwater, died Thursday, Mar. 7 at United Hospitals, St. Paul. Mr. Stieger was born in St. Paul and had lived in Stillwater for many years. He was a printer for Maple Island, Inc. from 1945 until his retirement. In 1937 at the request of the Rev. Charles Corcoran, Mr. Stieger began to play the chimes of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Stillwater. He continued to do so until his death. In 1970 he received the WCCo Good Neighbor Award in recognition of his tireless efforts to restore St. Michael's chimes after they had fallen into a state of disrepair. Additional recognition came from the citizens of Stillwater who presented him with a plaque to commemorate his many years of service. Mr. Stieger was Recording Secretary for the Knights of Columbus for many years and served 2 years as Grand Knight. Mr. Stieger was an accomplished pianist and frequently played for community service organizations and social functions. He is survivied by wife, Helen Brochman Stieger; daughter, Mary and her husband, Larry Kveberg and 1 grandson, Gregory; also survived by brothers Philip, St. Paul, Leonard, Santa Anna, CA and a sister, Gertrude Stieger Fischbach, St. Paul; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 611 So. 3rd St., Stillwater, 10 am Saturday, March 9th. Luncheon will follow in the church's Miller Hall.
